Lefktra - the acropolis
A short walk from the house takes you up Lefktra the acropolis overlooking Stoupa and Lefktro - there was a ruined temple up here in 2nd century AD when Pausanias visited.
There are still a few ruins - but probably from a more recent castle as this was the fortified acropolis for the villages.
There are lots of flowers, and lovely views in all directions.

Stoupa Bay

Less than a kilometre down from the house is the beautiful bay and village which has become a popular resort (Stoupa). There are a number of bars and tavernas overlooking the wide sandy beach, and some more traditional fish tavernas overlooking a smaller sandy beach a few minutes walk southwards.

The grand houses on the front were built 80 years ago, but the village did not grow until it became a resort about 20 years ago.

A ten minute short walk north brings you to the even more idyllic Kalogria Bay with an wide sandy beach, surrounded by tamarisk trees, gently shelving into clear seas kept cool by ice cold freshwater springs.

The beach and volley ball court are busy in July, August and September and so are the bars and tavernas that provide shade, food, cool drinks and the opportunity for show off your tan, your beach wear and your skill at backgammon.

Agios Nikalaios

3 kilometres South of Stoupa is the bustling fishing village of Agios Nikalaios. There is a good coastal path that goes along the cliff tops and then through clumps of sage and sweet smelling gorse.

In Agios Nikalaios you will be rewarded with a pleasant meal at one of the tavernas overlooking the harbour.
